As you can see from this map above, it is INSANE to look at all the different routes and hikes that are accessible up in the mountains all reached by cable cars, trains, funiculars, etc. If you look at the map closely in the middle, we stayed in the town of Wengen. This small village was an ideal starting point for all of our hiking and mountain adventures for the five days in this region, and it seemed less crowded than some of the other alpine villages.
We had the most spectacular view from our hotel room in Wengen of the Jungfau mountains and the Lauterbrunnen Valley. You can even see the famous free falling waterfall- Staubbach Falls and it lights up in the evenings. It was the perfect cozy spot in the evenings to wind down to enjoy wine, pizza, and card playing. I highly recommend the Bellevue Hotel, a traditional Swiss hideaway tucked in the middle of all the Jungfau adventures.
