Now that pond hockey is over, we’ve moved on to hiking. Our family is taking on a couple of hiking challenges this spring and summer time. The first one is that every Friday we take a half or full day and take the kids for a hike. Whether it is a hike a couple hours away or within the city limits, we are taking time to enjoy the outdoors together. It is one of our favorite things to do together as a family.
Last Friday, we took the boys to Banning State Park for a few hours and they hiked the entire two mile hike to the frozen waterfall and back. We were impressed, especially with the three year old! This was a special hike since we heard a pack of wolves howling and got it on video. I’ve grown up in Minnesota and have never heard this before! Pretty rare and to hear it during the day and 1.5 hour from the cities was crazy!
The second challenge we are taking on is every month we try a new MN State Park. I love living in this state because I can embrace all different seasons and enjoy ALL the beautiful scenery this state has to offer. I’ve lived here since I was about five years old and there is so much more for me to explore in MN. I got this idea from: https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/minnesota/2021-hikes-mn/
Challenge accepted! We are on a mission to discover the outdoors together as a family. It teaches our boys to love and respect nature. Come and take on this hiking challenge with us- time to HIKE!
